Muse - Black Holes And Revelations

Es el nombre de la producción de la banda británica Muse, que salió el 3 de julio de 2006. El nuevo álbum del grupo comandado por Matthew Bellamy tiene singles como Supermassive Black Hole (UK), Knights of Cydonia (US), Invincible y Starlight.

Este, su cuarto trabajo de estudio, sigue la línea estilística de su anterior disco, Absolution, con un estilo musical menos agresivo y mucho más oscuro, además de contar con letras más ideológicas que en sus dos primeros trabajos. En este nuevo disco tienen cierto sonido urbano, como pone de manifiesto la canción "Supermassive Black Hole", en la que se acercan bastante al sonido de grupos como Franz Ferdinand; sin embargo, Bellamy asegura que siempre le gustó ese estilo y que ya tenía pensado desarrollarlo antes de haberles oído.

La portada del disco Black Holes and Revelations, creada por Storm Thorgerson, está ambientada en la superficie marciana, e incluye cuatro hombres sentados alrededor de una mesa con cuatro caballos en miniatura enfrente de cada uno de ellos. Según la propia banda, "estos hombres representan los "Cuatro Jinetes del Apocalipsis", cada uno de ellos vestidos con un traje que representa el dolor de la humanidad".

Muse - Absolution

Al terminar la larga gira de Origin Of Symmetry, Muse empezó a grabar algunas demos en Septiembre de 2002, volviendo al estudio en Noviembre donde grabaron los acompañamientos (guitarras, bajo y percusiones) y los arreglos de cuerda para tres o cuatro canciones junto a John Cornfield y Paul Reeve en los estudios Air. Pero fue el productor norteamericano Rich Costley quien mayormente contribuyó al nuevo disco trabajando con Muse en los acompañamientos, voces y mezcla del disco.

Con el primer título de "The Smallprint", Muse originalmente planeó grabar un disco de tono elevado con enorme orquestación. Fue entonces cuando los Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido fueron a la guerra con Irak y todo cambió. La banda finalmente decidió volver a los fundamentos y volver a grabar algo de las cosillas con la orquesta, bajando el tono un poco. El sonido llego a ser entonces mas duro y apocalíptico.

Absolution se publicó el 22 de Septiembre de 2003 y abrió una nueva era para Muse. Este tercer disco en estudio es definitivamente mas sosegado que los predecesores, mostrando a una banda madura que se expande en sus habilidades musicales. Los fans parecen estar de acuerdo desde el durísimo "Stockholm Síndrome" (publicado el 14 de Julio) hasta el single de ritmillo funky "Time is Running Out" (publicado el 8 de Septiembre). Ambos singles alcanzaron los primeros puestos en las listas.

Tras recibir múltiples premios y más que favorables críticas con Absolution, Muse consiguió por primera vez estar entre los 10 primeros puestos de la lista de ventas británica con Time is Running Out. El 1 de Diciembre de ese mismo año, Muse publicó Hysteria como nuevo single, consiguiendo un nuevo éxito en las listas británicas y poniendo fin a un año memorable para la banda, aunque aún no sabían lo que les esperaba.

At the end of the long tour of Origin Of Symmetry, Muse began to record some demos in September 2002, returning to study in November where they recorded the accompaniments (guitars, bass and percussion) and string arrangements for three or four songs with John Cornfield and Paul Reeve in studies Air. Tras unos meses de descanso, Muse empezó en Abril de 2002 una nueva gira europea, esta vez compuesta mayormente por festivales y una serie de actuaciones en países menos visitados por la banda como Portugal, Turquía, Grecia, Finlandia, Dinamarca, Suecia, Irlanda etc. En esta segunda parte de la gira del Origin of Symmetry sirvió a Muse para promocionar su nuevo DVD/Cd llamado Hullabaloo

Muse - Origin of Symmetry

Tras una larga gira mundial, Muse volvió al estudio para grabar su segundo disco llamado Origin of Symmetry. La mayor parte de las canciones de este disco ya habían sido tocadas en directo y el grupo quiso mantener ese sonido en vivo. En Showbiz el sonido de Muse era bastante complejo, con muchos instrumentos diferentes y superpuestos. En Origin of Symmetry buscaban sonar como un trío real con un sonido muy poderoso, y para ello Matt se reunió el técnico en guitarras de Tom Morello, guitarrista del grupo Rage Against The Machine. Asimismo Matt pidió a Hugh Manson crearle una guitarra especial para él, llena de efectos integrados.

After a long world tour, Muse returned to the studio to record their second album called Origin of Symmetry. Después del relativo éxito de sus dos primeros EPs, Muse se metió en el estudio con John Leckie para grabar su primer disco : Showbiz. Leckie, antiguo productor de Pink Floyd, de Stoned Roses y Radiohead, dio un toque personal a las composiciones de la banda. El disco se grabó en cinco semanas entre los estudios RAK y Sawmills. El disco se publicó en Septiembre de 1999 en Francia, y un mes después en el resto del mundo. Showbiz supuso un éxito masivo para la banda: vendieron mas de 700.000 copias en todo el mundo y lograron una gran expectación en Francia y Reino Unido. Cinco singles se extrajeron del disco : Uno, Cave, Muscle Museum, Sunburn y Unintended. Con el Showbiz en la maleta unas cuantas caras b de calidad como Agitated, Minimum o Yes Please, la banda estaba preparada para empezar una larguísima gira por todo el mundo.
